Greetings. The points progression charts from game week 2 of the Rugby Premiership are provided below. For the games with promoted teams, we still provide a flow chart of how points were accumulated for that particular game.
A guide to the labels;
- TEAM refers to points accumulation averaged from the team's weekend meeting against that opponent, e.g., BUFF for Buffaloes' points accumulation from Saturday's fixture against MONGERS.
- TEAM (ret) refers to points accumulation averaged from the team's previous meetings against that opponent, e.g., BUFF (ret) for Buffaloes' average points accumulation from their five previous fixtures against Mongers; WAR (ret) for Warriors'average points accumulation from their three previous fixtures against KOBs.
- TEAM ('YEAR) refers to points accumulation from the team's fixture against an opponent from a particular year, e.g., RHI ('24) for RHINOS' points accumulation from their 2024 fixture against Eagles, and RHI ('25) for their points' accumulation from their weekend encounter against the same opponents.
Victoria Sharks led for a combined 37 minutes (46.25% of the game) compared to Hippos' 34 minutes (42.5% of the game).
Yasin Wasswa only managed 5 points from a possible 15 off the tee, whereas Israel Makhoka only missed one of his 4 attempts at goal. Wasswa underperformed his xP-lite by 4.5 points whereas Makhoha had a 3 point gain on his xP-lite.
Eagles have failed to score points in the first half in their two games played against Rhinos (00-15 at HT in 2024 and 00-03 at HT in 2025).
Having averaged 11 halftime points in their previous 5 fixtures against Buffaloes, Mongers were held without a score at halftime. Robin Odrua had a 1.76 xP-lite in the first half but missed his attempt at goal as Mongers trailed 00-13. By contrast Liam Walker scored 8 points from 5.76 xP-lite (+2.24) in the first half.
For this game, it is important to note that the xP-lite is computed for place kicking (conversions and penalty goals) and does not incorporate drop goals. Thus Edgar Kairu's successful drop goal is not part of the actual points.
Both Walukuba and Heathens exceeded their previous performances against each other. For the first time, Walukuba scored 20+ points against Heathens. In a Man of the Match performance, Gift Wokorach slotted all his kicks for 13 point on the day, a gain of 3.74 on his expected points.
For the third consecutive meeting, Warriors failed to score a try in the Mileke Shield. KOBs on the other hand scored 7 tries, having averaged 9.3 tries in their 3 previous encounters prior to 2025. Calvin Gizamba was one succesful conversion shy of exceeding his expected points from the game.
Pirates enjoyed both the biggest halftime lead (+26) and the biggest winning margin (+51) over the weekend, in their 9 try victory against Elgon Wolves.
For the Elgon Wolves, Hamisi Katumba took his season tally to 9 points with 2 penalties either side of the break, despite doubling his expected points tally for the day.
William Nkore moved into the top 5 points scorers list (tied 4th with Joseph Aredo), converting 4 of his 7 attempts for 16 points. His goal success rate for the season currently stands at 61.54%, only Liam Walker has a better rate amongst players with 10+ attempts in this season.
Ceteris. Paribus.
