Rugby premiership Week 3: xP-Lite Performance

Greetings. The weekly update for kicking performance will be shared on Thursdays, to accommodate the game of the week analysis (Monday) and the points progression analysis (Tuesday).

For an introduction on how xP-lite tracking works, the article published three weeks ago here will be helpful. Last week's article has some further insights into how new kickers are assigned xP-lite and can be found here.

As the season progresses, I'll use a threshold to decide which players' performance to share. The easiest threshold I have found is to consider number of attempts at goal. For the list below, I have only included those who have so far made at least 5 attempts at goal across the first three games played. Later on that threshold will move to 10, and probably 20. At the moment, 15 players meet that threshold, out of the sum of 31 who have made an attempt at goal this season. There are still 79 players with assigned xP-lite that are yet to make an attempt at goal this season, including Elvis Opira (2.38), Ivan Magomu (1.44), Wilfred Seguya (1.67), as well as kickers from Rams and Impis.

William Nkore leaders the pack in terms of points gained from expectations. Amongst new entrants to the database, Hamisi Katumba stands out, with 3.75 points gained from his 9 attempts at goal. Joseph Aredo and Robin Odrua both received big boosts from their respective 8/9 performances.

Malcolm Okello became the first to make 20 attempts at goal this season. It helped that his game was at 14:00, before all other games, and the fact that he attempted all 13 of Heathens conversions on Saturday.

With the return of Keith Mugisha (2.00), Willy Araptai (2.13) didn't have kicking duties assigned on game day 3, and thus maintained his numbers from Week 2.

Ceteris. Paribus.
